Is Blood Pressure Of 158/95 A Cause For Concern?

My brother is on blood pressure medicine, has had a heart attack in past present blood pressure 158/95.....has been having chest pain for a week......being admitted to regular hospital room....what are we possibly looking at as to what is presently happening?

I appreciate your concern for your beloved brother.
Yes, the BP is high which needs to be treated.
Incomplete data like his age, any other medical problem like diabetes, history of smoking, etc.
He should be properly evaluated for the routine examination like ECG, fasting blood glucose, kidney function tests, etc before starting the medication to treat his high BP.
Besides medication he needs to have certain lifestyle changes like:
1. To avoid smoking, alcohol, stress, etc.
2. To reduce the dietary salt intake to less than 4 gm/day
3. To have regular physical exercise for at least 30 minutes/day
4. To take vegetables and fruits and enough fluid intake.
5. To continue to take the medications prescribed after his heart attack.
