Is blood on toilet paper when wiping the back a cause for concern?

Hello, recently and ongoing, when I use the bathroom, I am seeing small amounts of blood on my toilet paper when wiping my backside. I first though maybe its a small cut, but it has been ongoing for a couple weeks now. Could it be a much larger problem?

Hello,

it seems like you have hemorrhoids. I suggest you to eat high-fiber foods. Eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Apply topical treatments. If you are overweight try to lose weight, do not stay in the same position for a long time, exercise drink plenty of fluids. If you don't feel better consult with a proctologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Blerina Pasho, General & Family Physician
