Is Bleeding During Sexual Intercourse Normal?

Hello Dr. Samuel, I have a question. Is bleeding during sexual intercourse normal? this is the first time this has happened to me. A day before i also noticed that I was having irritation and a white discharge no odor. i have had a history of a yeast infection which i felt were the same symptoms i was having. Could it be related to that?

Bleeding during the first intercourse is very common. It occurs due to rupture of hymen. During the subsequent intercourse as well, the bleeding may occur due to some mild trauma. However if it is occurring repeatedly, then it is a matter of worry. Also get a complete blood count done to look for the platelet count and also get a local examintaion done to look for any local pathology like vascular malformations.
