Is Black Diarrhea A Symptom Of Colon Cancer?

my dad is 79 years old and i have taken him to the VA in Tampa for this reason, he has had diahrea black for over two weeks the first time that i took him they said he had bleeding ulcers,gave him medication and sent him home. his diahrea has returned same as before black ,he also has lykemia what i want to know is this a sign of colon cancer. should i get him back to the VA. he is hard headed. thank you debbie ,x daughterin law
