Is Back To Back Yawning Considered Normal For A Child?

3 and a half year old has episodes of back to back yawning. Almost like they re fake but keeps doing it. I don t know if it s a habit or some other issue? Can do it not long after waking in the morning after 12 hours of sleep. If she is just tired is back to back yawning considered normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

While yawning is quite common, still it's a mechanism and needs is not known completely.

Whatever, it's quite normal. If he isn't otherwise fine, like eating, drinking, and playing, achieve normal weight, normal milestones.

Then I don't think we should be worried about yawning. It's not a part of any disease but make sure he gets enough sleep and rest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
