Is Back Pain In IUD Patients Due To Copper Inserted Or A Wilson S Disease Symptom?

Hi I have a question about paragard, Wilson disease and gilberts syndrome. I have that I UD and have also been diagnosed with gilberts syndrome, but have been having pain in back and pins and needles down my leg, right now its only in my foot. Had MRI and ex rays that showed nothing wrong with my back. Could it be Wilson s disease or the copper in the IUD effecting me.

Hi, thanks for posting your concern in the HCM.
Copper containing IUDs are known to exacerbate Wilson's disease or existing Chronic Liver Disease. But, there is no convincing evidence that they cause Wilson's disease.
As you have Gilbert Syndrome, your bilirubin level may be a bit high. But, that would not precipitate Wilson's disease too.
But, it would be better to switch to some newer IUDs if you have any form of Gilbert syndrome.
Regarding your pins and needles sensation, It is definitely due to some form of neuropathy. As you have normal imaging findings, I have to say the back pain may be mechanical or due to pathology other than a skeletal one, e.g. Pelvic inflammation, or colonic problem or UTI etc.
A healthy diet, avoidance of faulty posture and abdominal muscle strengthening exercise may help you. Along with that, a vitamin supplement rich in B complex may also help.
You should consult your gynaecological doctor for further evaluation.
A routine urinalysis, 24 hr urine protein should be done.
For further information please write back to me.
Regards
