Is Anxiety A Part Of Thyroid Problem?

I have a TSH blood test that came back as 5.01. They did a T4 that came back as .7. I am over weight at 203. I am 39 years of age and a female. My mother and her mother and her sister all have thyroid problems. I was started on synthroid 25mcg. I was wondering what this all means? Should I have my T3 looked at as well? I also forgot I have anxiety and panic attacks. Not often but I have them maybe once in a blue moon. Is this all a part of the thyroid? I just want answers if possible. I like to try to get as much information as possible for a calmer mind . Thanks Brandi

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You are over weight and your T4 level is low with borderline high TSH. You may have hypothyroidism and you are taking external thyroid replacement treatment with synthroid.

You should check your T3, T4 and TSH after 6 weeks.

You have anxiety and panic attacks. It can be due anxiety disorders. Consult your psychiatrist once for that.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
