Is An Increase In The Platelet Count Of A Dengue Patient Good?

Hi, From the past 5 days I ve been sick. First two days I had high fever body pain and other dengue symptoms, after 4 days when I went for blood test it turned out to be dengue positive. That time I.e. day before yesterday my platelet count was 65000 but when I went to the hospital for admission the other day, they took another test which showed the count raised to 1,20,000 and the didn t admit me in the hospital. Is that okay or do I need to be worried about it????

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The platelet count increasing towards normal is a good thing in dengue.

Low platelet counts can be associated with a risk of bleeding so the increase towards 150 000, which is the lower limit of normal, is good.

At 120 000, you should not experience any bleeding from the dengue.

I hope this helps
