Is An Extra Metoprolol Dosage Advisable For Elevated Blood Pressure Level?

Hi, I just started Metoprololo Succ ER Thursday 50 MG b/c I have surgery next week and my blood pressure was 160 when I did my preop. It hasn t gone down much still ranging between 130-140, should I try taking 2 pills a day or how long before it fully kicks in? My next reading is this week Thursday. 55 YO, 5/2, 98lbs.

why don't you ask your anasthesiologist what drugs are to be taken before surgery and what need to be skipped.
Because your drugs will also also have a effect on blood pressure during surgery. Also different anasthesia affect s b.p. differently.
Before jumping on conclusion of taking extra dose consult anasthesiologist about anasthesia he is going to give and what medication need to be stopped and when.
Have a safe surgery
