Is An Enlarged Prostate Gland The Cause For Erectile Dysfunction?

Hi, my husband is having trouble getting and maintaining an erection. He is 52 and has had a mild heart attack 7 yrs ago, he is on metoprol, lisinopril, zetia, and low dose aspirin. Is there anything that he can do to help this issue without going to the doctor or taking extra medications. He was also told over 20 yrs ago that he had an enlarged prostate. Would that affect the blood flow to the penis? Thanks for your help.

Erectile dysfunction is a common problem with aging, it can also occur with certain medical conditions such as a hypertension, diabetes or high cholesterol because these can affect blood flow to the penis. Some blood pressure medications can also affect erections. Unfortunately medications are one of the main ways of dealing with erectile dysfunction Example: Viagra, Cialis, Levitra. He should speak to his urologist about this or any other options.
