Is An Enlarged Lymph Node In The Neck A Matter Of Concern?
I'm a healthy 39 year old women. I exercise daily. No tobacco or alcohol. I have had severe fatigue since coming off of testosterone pellet therapy. I saw my pcp 2 weeks ago an all labs were checked including CBC and everything was normal. Physical exam normal. I am under a great deal or stress and suffer from anxiety. Today I had a physical exam and she noticed an enlarged lymph node on the side of my neck. She placed me on antibiotics. Should I be worried? It seems she's trying to relate my fatigue and enlarged lymph node to a more significant health problem.(cancer?)
You have an enlarged lymph node in the neck. For that further investigation can be done in form of biopsy to give an exact diagnosis. FNAC is also alternative to biopsy.
However, you can complete the course of prescribed antibiotic for a week. If it doesn't resolve (which should be resolved if infective) in the week with antibiotic then mentioned investigation has to be done.
It will help to rule out the underlying cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
