Is Alcohol Advisable While On Prozac And Tramadol?

WHAT IS THE LIKELIHOOD OF HAVING A PROBLEM WHEN TAKING A LOW DOSE OF PROZAC TO TREAT MIGRAINES, ALONG WITH TRAMADOL (ALSO A FAIRLY SMALL DOSE)? THE PROZAC I JUST STARTED TAKING TODAY AND IT IS ONLY 10MG. ALSO SAW THAT IT SAYS AVOID TAKING ALCOHOL WITH THIS DRUG .... IS THAT A SERIOUS PROBLEM BECAUSE I ENJOY A DRINK OR TWO A FEW DAYS PER WEEK.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Ethanol may enhance the sedative effect of tramadol, thus concomitant use of these two together may make you feel more sleepy. This is dangerous especially if you need to drive or do activities that need good concentration.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
