Is Acupuncture A Viable Treatment For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

I Is acupuncture a viable treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome? Mine appeared seemingly out of the blue about 8 weeks after I fell and broke my hand below the pinkie, had surgery and 2 pins inserted and later removed. the CTS presented with tingling middle and ring fingers almost immediately after I was done with my cast and quit wearing the brace all the time. Seemed odd. My Dr has me doing exercises and wearing a brace at night to stabilize that hand/wrist. Several weeks of that has shown no improvement, but still doing it.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Alternative medicine may be useful as well and acupuncture is one of it. Carpal tunnel syndrome can be treated by various methods. Surgery is the most successful and permanent solution while other methods are sufficient for symptoms relief. Beside surgery, options include wrist splinting, medications and alternative methods.Splinting and other conservative treatments are more likely to help if you've had only mild to moderate symptoms for less than 10 months.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others), may help relieve pain from carpal tunnel syndrome in the short term.
If carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by rheumatoid arthritis or another inflammatory arthritis, then treating the arthritis may reduce symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. TO relief pain you should follow Lifestyle and home remedies: Take short breaks from repetitive activities involving the use of your hands, lose weight if you are overweight or obese, Avoid sleeping on your hands.

I hope I have answered you query.
