Hi.
Sorry to hear about the health of your grand father. So far as your question is concerned CT SCAN abdomen is capable of diffentiating collections, cyst or abscesses from solid growths. Moreover keeping in view the age of patient , the suspician of having a tumor or cancerous growth is highly likely. The best thing to do is to visit a surgeon and get it worked out for a confirmative diagnosis as early as possible. If is turns out to be an infection/collection or any other benign pathalogy that great. On the other hand, if it is some sort of malicious growth it needs to be dealt with as early as possible. Wishing best of health to grand father and all of your family.
Regards.
