The doctor just told me that my thyroid level was 0.2, down from 0.5 in May. I am on Synthroid dosage of 125. I had my thyroid glad removed 5 years ago with a diagnosis of thyroid cancer but radiation was not recommended. The doctor has scheduled an ultrasound next month. Should I be concerned?
Hi thanks for using HCM TSH of 0.2 is fairly normal for a post-thyroidectomy person. It is suggested to keep it below 1.00 125mcg of thyroxine is a pretty good dose, hence no need to worry...
For a post-thyroidecyomy person it is better to do an iodine uptake scan than usual ultra sonogram .Remnants or recurrence will be detected only by iodine uptake scan..please discuss with your doctor about this...
You have to also do a Serum Tg and Anti Tg values...This has got significance in the follow up if thyroid cancer...
thank you....
