Is A Small Spot On The Right Breast In A Patient Who Has Recovered From Breast Cancer A Cause For Concern?

Had breast cancer in right breast almost 12 years ago. Had mammo and ultrasound last week. Have to go back for diagnostic mammo because they said there s a small spot on right side, ultrasound was fine. Said it could be benign breast tissue. Just wanted your insight on this. Feeling nervous. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is probably nothing. Breast cancer recurrence after 12 years is very rare, but a fine needle aspiration will probably be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen,
General Surgeon
