Is A Red Line From The Knee To The Groin Area A Symptom Of A Septic Infection?

My husband has an infection, cellulitis on great toe and side of foot. Had shaking chills and temp 101.7 two days ago. He had groin pain on same side. Yesterday pcp started keflex 500mg four times a day. WBC: 15.7. Bld cultures not back. Foot looks less angry, fever gone after 24hrs. Now seeing a thick red line from knee to groin on inside ? Septic ? To ER ?

Hello,

Thick red line may be due to rash or stretch marks or cutaneous larva migraines etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. You may continue Paracetamol four times a day for five days.

You may start antibiotics for leucocytosis. If symptoms not improved please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
