Is A Muscle Relaxer An Opiate?

I tested positive for opiates on a UA and I have not taken anything that remotely resembles an opiate. I asked them to re-test, but I do have a bottle of mixed pills that I dig into (carry in my purse) when necessary. I think there are only allergy pills and ibuprofen in there, but used to have a prescription for muscle relaxers. Is there any chance that the daytime allergy pills look anything like muscle relaxers (small oval shaped and white)? is a muscle relaxer an opiate?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Allergy pills do not contain opiates or muscle relaxants. Muscle relaxants are also different from opiates.

There are medications that can false positive results with opiates.

Examples are: fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin), dextromethorphan, rifampin, poppy seeds, diphenydramine (benadryl)

If your allergy pills contain diphenhydramine, this is the possible source of the false positive reaction.

I hope this helps
