Is A Fleshy Lump On The Tip Of Elbow Suggestive Of Bursitis?
hi, I woke this morning with a painless, fleshy lump on the tip of my left elbow which does not interfere with movement. it s about the size of a golf ball and feel full of fluid. I don t recall any trauma to the elbow recently. my guess is some sort of bursitis. do I need to amputate? thanks, martyn
Hello I have gone through your question and understand your concern. It does appear to be bursitis of elbow caused by repeated minor stress or recurrent use of joint like playing tennis or golf. keeping the cause of swelling as bursitis in mind surgical excision is not necessary in all cases. Various non-surgical treatments can efficiently treat minor cases of bursitis like firm compression bandage, injecting the bursa with corticosteroids, aspirating (drainage) of excess fluid collected in bursa along with oral or topical pain killers and antibiotics in case of infection. Get it examined with a GP and discuss about possible measures of treatment. Thank you.
