Is A Pap Smear Test The Cause For Presence Of Blood In Urine?

Hello. I am pregnant, and seen the doctors about my lab results. They advised there was blood in my urine. At my last appointment I had a PAP smear done the same day I did a urine test. Can there be a high chance that is the reason blood was in my urine?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes... it might cause it. A Pap smear is a screening test to collect and microscopically examine cells taken from the cervix for the presence of infection, inflammation, abnormal cells, and cancer.

A Pap test, along with a pelvic examination, may detect abnormalities that can lead to invasive cancer. Please get your urine examined after a week from now.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
