Is Zantac Advisable For The Swelling In Upper Lip?

I had a sudden swelling of my upper lip last Sunday while I was out with my family having breakfast . It was not very cold outside and not very hot inside . My family doctor prescribed a 15 day coarse of Zantac medication . I am wondering what caused this swelling and is Zantac the right medication for it ?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Zantac is a Histamine-2 blocker and it is used to reduce acid in stomach and relieve hyperacidity conditions and stomach ulcers..

In your case sudden swelling of the upper lip seems to be due to some allergic reaction and in this case anti-allergics can be advised..

You should be supposedly advised Zyrtec that contains active ingredient Cetrizine and is an anti histamine or anti allergic medication..

I would suggest you to reconfirm with your treating physician and take the medicine accordingly..
You can also do cool compresses over the lip to reduce swelling..
Drink plenty of water..
