Is Voltaran Gel Effective In The Treatment Of Rheumatoid Arthritis?
Just had an ablation done in heart for v-tachycardia. The surgery was a success and I was sent home without any needed medication except for taking an adult strength for the next month. I am not on blood thinners . I also am treated for rheumatoid arthritis and have been prescribed Voltaran gel for back pain as needed. Is it safe to use the gel now. When can I use it
Hi & Welcome. Voltaren (Diclofenac) gel is effective in the treatment of joint pain caused by osteoarthritis in the hands, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, or feet. However, it may be safe to use but not effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Since rheumatoid arthritis is an auto immune inflammatory disease, the standard treatment involves use of immunosuppressive drugs like Methotrexate or/& Hydroxychloroquine or Sulfasalazine. Hope this answers your query.
