Is UTI Related With Back Pain?

I have been doctoring for a sharp electrical pain on my left back side, at the bottom of my rib cage. I have been given meds. for urinary tract infection. but I still have the pain, more so now than at the beginning of this. I have been to the ER and now the clinic and they say its UTI.
