Is Tramadol Effective For Pain After Oral Surgery?
My 27 year old daughter had oral surgery yesterday and was prescribed 50 mg tramadol for pain. She currently is in quite a lot of pain but the doctor says not to increase the dosage. She typically has a fairly high pain threshold so her complaints are out of the ordinary. She is 5 ft., 8 inches and weighs about 200 pounds, not a small girl. She does not take any other prescriptions and is otherwise quite healthy, apart from having celiac disease. Would it be alright for her to take one half of an additional pill - 75 mg total?

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what your daughter had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, she may need to have another analgesic added for effective pain relief.
OTC analgesic like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen along with Tramadol can be used. Nerve pain suppressants like Carbamezapine may also be used along with the current regimen. Increasing Tramadol alone can lead to dependence and problem after withdrawal.
