Is Terconazole Effective Medicine For Yeast Infection?

i ve been having problems with the skin on the head of my penis.4 months ago the skin on my penis became red and irritated. after a while i noticed that there was a translucent layer of skin over the bumpy red rash and the skin appears to be wrinkled though it is covered by this translucent layer. then recently the skin started peeling. i went to a urologist who immediately told me it was a yeast infection and perscribed me the anti-fungal terconazole which i ve put on the head of my penis every night for the past 10 days. it doesnt seem to have helped and i dont know who to believe anymore, is this a yeast infection? the doctor did no skin scraping and i was only in the office for little more than 5 minutes. i even tried gentian violet on it, and its still there. am i being impatient? should i keep using the terconazole?

Hi
If in doubt about diagnosis of yeast infection then ask your doctor to get a swab done of the area. The current recommendation for fungal infection of foreskin is single tablet of fluconazole 150 mg taken by mouth and improvement should be seen in 2-3 days -if not better then it can be a different diagnosis and not fungal infection. Gentian violet usually does not help.

Please have yourself checked for diabetes also as if the blood sugar is high, the fungal infection can keep coming back rapidly.
