My father suffered a TBI a little over a year ago, the Neurologist at the hospital said that after about a year all of the progress he was going to make was going to be evident. He is doing amazing, however is it true that this is as good as it's gonna get? Will there be more progress?
I read your question carefully and I appreciate your concern about your father.
Generally speaking your neurologist is right improvement takes place during the first 6-12 months and little gain is expected after that. However every individual patients has his unique characteristics and there are rare cases with improvement after that period as well, so while you shouldn't have high expectations you shouldn't lose hope either.
I hope to have been of help.
