Is Susten A Safe Medication To Be Consumed During Pregnancy?

I tested Beta HCG blood test on 26/08/2016. The results shows the value 14568 mIU/ml. I want to know whether it means pregnancy or not. My last period date will be 06/07/2016. Also my doctor suggested me take susten 250mg tablet for one week and prescribed for UCG scanning.

Hello,

Elevated serum Beta HCG level may signify pregnancy but you should go for USG scan for confirmatory diagnosis.

HCG levels are raised in several conditions such as hydatidiform mole, choriocarcinoma, atopic pregnancy, etc.

So better rely on USG scan to confirm . Susten is micronised progesterone and is good to maintain early pregnancy.

It is also used for menstrual irregularities and as hormone replacement therapy. So it is alright that your doctor has prescribed.
