Is Sudafed Advisable For Buzzing Sensation In The Ears?

I started having buzzing in my ear on MOnday, and it went away on THursday, but i have it again Friday. I have a slight nasal discharge, could this be linked allergies?? Can I take Sudafed to help with the buzzing in the ears? My ears feel stuffed too. Help.

Hi,thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

Looking at your symptoms,you are probably suffering from Eustachian tube blockage.It is tube which connects the middle ear with the nose and is responsible for equalization of middle ear pressure with the outer atmospheric pressure.In case of cold,the tube gets blocked resulting in negative middle ear pressure with fluid collection in middle ear.This may lead to blockage of ear and buzzing in ear.

Sudafed is an Oral decongestant containing Pseudoephedrine.It will help in your case.

Along with Sudafed you may find relief by taking the following medication:
Decongestant Nasal drops like Xylometazoline,
Mucolytic like Ambroxol,
Antihistaminic like Loratidine.

Also do steam inhalation.Drink lots of warm fluids.Avoid dust and cold fluid.Avoid listening loud sounds.
