Is Sinemet The Right Medicine For Parkinson Disease?

Hi. My mother is suffering from parkinson disease. Lately, she s always dizzy and can t sleep at night. Sometimes she experiences heavy breathing too. She s taking Sinimet( Carbidopa-Levodopa) as her medication. Is there any other natural supplement or drugs that can help alleviate all this or anything we can do to help her? Please advice.

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Tablet Sinemat is one of commonest drug choice of treatment for Parkinsons symptom. All the medications have both effects and side effects; no drug is ideal with 100% benefits and no side effects. Therefore all the drugs are prescribed only after calculating the risk benefit ratio.
Symptoms of side effects usually subside after 6 weeks of initiation of treatment if they don’t regress or get worse over time it is better to notify the prescribing doctor about the symptoms.
Newer approaches towards Parkinson’s disease like use of stem cells, deep brain stimulation have been researched but still a lot of study is to be done.
Use of antioxidants in Parkinson’s patients have shown beneficial and have shown to decrease the progress of disease in various studies. Add a daily dose of over the counter antioxidant not only for the disease but for overall health benefits.
