Hello Doctor.....I was recommended two years back to take Rosuvas 5 mg to bring down my cholesterol level....I have been taking the tablet every day in the night before sleep. When I did my full health check-up, cholesterol levels were normal but the ALT(SGPT) count was 53. I do consume alcohol four to eight large a week. Two years back when I took the test, the ALT(SGPT) was normal and I was taking alcohol at that time as well....is Rosuvas the culprit?
Hello dear Understand your concern. Rosuvas is a HMG coA inhibitor , rate limiting enzyme for cholesterol synthesis. Used to decreased cholesterol in hypercholesterolemia.
Normal ALT level:9-52 u/L in female. So your level slight high. But do not worry it is not serious. Along with this you can do whole liver profile to check side effects of drug. So Rise in AST may be due to drug side effects. Regulary check liver profile every 2-3 months to know progress.
