Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Restidol Advisable Over Ativan For A Cardiac Patient?
I have been a heart patient for 13 yrs. Triple by-pass, aorta dissection repair. CHF and COPD. 9 stents. I was put on Ativan 1mg ( 1/2 am , 1/2 @ noon , 1 @BT) I do not need them during the day and they have not been helping at night for months and month. I spent 4 days last week in hospital with blocked arteries and received two stents. They gave me restidol at night. I went to sleep quickly and woke up feeling rested and no drowsiness. Should I talk to Dr. about coming off Ativan and replace with restidol.
As per my clinical experience, the current presentation suggests Restidol can be taken over Ativan for a cardiac patient, but simultaneous intake is not advisable due to additive CNS suppression.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
