Is Quetiapine A Suitable Medicine For Severe Depression?

I became very depressed and my doctor who I met for the first time gave me Quetiapine. I was just depressed and nothing more. Do you think this medicine is too strong. I want to stop as I am no longer depressed and am working daily at my business . May I have your opinion. I am 72 and in very good health and very active. Thank you

Hi!

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. May I know how long you've been on this medication? As it is advisable to continue for 6 - 9 months. After getting completely better from depressive symptoms, you can stop the drug.

Actually, Quetiapine is an anti-psychotic. Also, have an antidepressant action. If you feel there are no associated symptoms, you can discontinue it.

Hope this information is useful.

Take care
