General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Potex 2 and Postinor 2 are categorised under emergency contraceptive pill. It needs to be taken within 72 hours after unprotected intercourse.

The pill would prevent pregnancy by causing breakthrough bleeding within 5 to 7 days from the day of intake of the pill.

However, the failure rate by using such pills is about 10%. Since the pill has been taken, kindly wait for bleeding to happen.

If bleeding doesn't happen by 10 days, kindly take a urine pregnancy test and consult Obstetrician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
