Is Propranolol Hcl Er Taken For Anxiety?

My son who is 14 was prescibed this medication to take for test anxiety. He will only take it the night before and morning of his test. I am wondering what exactly this medication is for, and what side effects he may have. Propranolol hcl er 60 mg

Propranolol is used by psychiatrist in case of performance anxiety. It help to control somatic anxiety symptoms like increase heart rate, tremor, tingling sensation etc. like other drugs it also has some side effects like sleep disturbances such as insomnia, vivid dreams, nightmares and there also chances of decrease blood pressure.
