I am currently on promethazine (5ml, PO) which was prescribed for a severe cough I developed with an upper respiratory infection. I also sometimes take diazepam (10mg PO) for mild anxiety. This is an occasion where I am feeling rather anxious, but am afraid to combine these two drugs. Is there a major safety concern?
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. Promethazine is antihistamine drug. It is used in cough and allergic reaction. It is non selective histamin receptor blocker. And can be taken in dry cough to suppress cough. Diazepam is benzodiazepine group of drug and used in mild sedation and anxiety. Both belongs to different group and having different mechanism of action. And no harm in taking both together. So you can ane both drug together without fear and worry. No harm in it.
