Is Pravastin More Effective Than Simvastin?

i am 60 yr old female who has been unable to tolerate low doses of simvastin and 10 mg dose every other day of lipitor. my cholesterol did come down from from 268 to 213 on these low doses..i just cannot tolerate the medicine. my docter wants me to try pravastatin 10mg every other day next. I m not hopeful since i have had such a difficult time so far with statins. i wonder if this will be better and hope so. do you know if pravastin will be any easier to tolerate? thank you in advance for your reply

Hello.Initially,Pravastatin dose is less potent than simvastatin dose, the drug may be better tolerated. If pravastatin is not well tolerated, other effective drug in lowering cholesterol levels (without the side effects of statins) is Ezetimibe.
I wish you good health.
