Is Ovigyn DSR Advisable For PCOD?

My wife has acne, weight gain, hair loss and ultrasound is suggestive of polycystic ovaries. We are eager to conceive. She has been on clomiphene and metformin for 6 cycles. She has also been prescribed Ovigyn-DSR.What is the role of Ovigyn DSR in PCOD.? If she already has increased androgenic hormones how does DHEA(Dehydroepiandrosterone) help ? Thanking you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The dehydroepiandrosterone increases the production of both androgens and estrogens so it is possible that it is being used to increase estrogen production.

If you and your wife remain concerned, it would be best to discuss your concerns with your doctor so that you are comfortable with any medication prescribed.

If possible, she may also want to alter her diet and activity levels to help with weight loss.
Weight loss helps promotes fertility in polycystic ovarian syndrome.

I hope this helps
