Is Nyquil Advisable For Insomnia Caused Due To Severe Cough And Cold?

My son is taking sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim oral tablet, and fluticasone propionate nasal suspension 50mg. He is coming down with same cold the rest of of do. Cough, sore throat, tightness in, chest, achiness and sensitivity. Can he take Ny-quil tonight so he can get some sleep?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that your son is suffering from Upper respiratory tract infection and the symptoms like cough, sore throat, tightness in chest and chest congestion and achiness be due to it..
I would suggest that he does not need antibiotics as it is viral infection and antibiotics can treat only bacterial infection..
Sleeplessness seems to be due to congestion and discomfort..
I would suggest that he can take Nyquil as it is anti allergic and decongestant along with acetaminophen to reduce pains and aches and rise in temperatur..
Along with it he can take saline nasal sprays, decongestnat nasal sprays, do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations..
Use a Humidifier in his room..
Drink plenty of warm water and other warm fluids..
Take sufficient rest..
Do warm compresses over chest, apply topical rubs like Vicks vapourup etc..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
