Is Nor-Metrogyl Safe For Treating Fever In A Child?

My Baby Boy is 3 years 4 months old weighing 12.6 kg. Almost 4 days back he had fever ranging between 99-102. The fever hardly died down at times persisting for almost 5-7 hrs. the only notable abnormalities is loose motion just for once before the occurance of fever. On consultation of the pediatric he first suggested Zanocin - OZ. The fever died after couple of doses. But on reporting that he is every time vomitting after taking the antibiotic he promptly changed it to Nor-Metrogyl. Now I find a new symtom in my child. The whole day he remains fine but it is during evening his temperatur rises to 99 and this is occuring for the last 2 days. After some net research I find that Nor-Metrogyl is not a safe drug especially for kids. I'm really scared. Plz help me.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi
Welcome to the healthcaremagic
Nor metrogyl and zanocin oz are same medicines. They contain ofloxacin and ornidazole.ofloxacin should be used cautiously in children less than 8 years. But in India it is used very very routinely. I haven't seen or heard of side effects like cartilage development problem in the children seen by me or my colleagues
Happy to help you
Best regards
