Is Neurontin prescribed for pinched nerves?

Which, I have a pinched nerve in my shoulder, very painful. My dr wants to give me neurontin. I read the insert and it doesn’t seem like neurontin is for pinched nerves. Also it doesn’t have any effect on the pain. Why should I take this medicine?

Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Neurotonin or Gabapentin is a medication which is used to treat neuropathic pain.

So, it can be used to treat the pinched nerve.

I suggest you to start with an over the counter anti inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen.

If the pain continue, you can use Neurotonin to treat it.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
