Is Metoprolol Succinate As Harmful As Toprol XL?

hello, I just saw an ad by marlene merritt about bl press meds, noting metoprolol succinate is very dangerous. I take 50 mg of metoprolol tartrate 50 mg along with enalapril maleate for the last 8 yrs due to a heart attack, they could not do an angiplast due to my vessel was very wavy. Is my version of metoprololl the same as toprol xl which she mentions as the 32 dangerous bl press med Thank you Helen 70 y/0

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to Ask a doctor service. I have read through your question and here is my opinion. Metoprolol succinate is a B blocker and prescribed for controlling hypertension. It is not dangerous unless you have some condition in which it is contraindicated for eg . Bronchial asthma. If you still have any doubts you can discuss this with your general physician. I hope that answers your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Have a nice day.
