General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If the skin is inflamed then the Methylprednisolone, which has an anti-inflammatory effect would help with this and should reduce your symptoms. Steroids are commonly used to treat inflammation though in some cases, to avoid systemic effects, topical steroids are used as first line unless the inflammation is severe. If there is any lingering or new infection is present, however this would also need to be treated as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
