Is Meftal and Calpol, effective for fever in children?
hi doctor, iam from QATAR.My son4yr.6 months having fever since morning 38.5 degree.given calpol syrup 10ml at 5.30pm but still fever same and he had meftal tab 250mg(1|2tab)at 2pm .can i give now any medicine for him and meftal and calpol same content
Please don't give Meftal and Calpol alternatively. Meftal causes interstitial nephritis. Calpol is a paracetamol, you can give that but should be given once every 6 hours.
If fever is not reducing, get blood investigations on 3rd day of fever to look for viral illness, bacterial or urinary tract infection. Calpol overdose can cause acute liver failure. Please be careful with medications to reduce fever.
