Is MRI Recommended To Test A Bump On The Prostate?

Dr. Andrew Rynne. Recently, after having a annual physical, the Dr. inform me that my PSA had gone to high normal at a 5.2 reading. This past week I met with a Urologist. The Dr performed a rectal exam, and found a bump on the left side of the prostate. I have requested a MRI rather than a biopsy. I am 75 years old, and the Dr. that preformes my annual physical pronounced me in excellent health..... Also, I stay very busy operating my Christmas Tree Farming operation, doing very physical work. There is no history of prostate cancer in my family. My Dad lived to be 94 years, and Mother to 91 years. ...Dr., what are your recommendations?...Thanking you in advance.

Dear friend, thank you for your consultation.I have gone through your case history and found that you have a lump in your prostate area.though you don't have a family history of prostate cancer but you should go for a MRI check-up to know the pathology behind this lup.if there is any suspicious finding is found in MRI then I presume, you should go for a biopsy.my best wishes for you.thank you.
I find this answer helpful
