Levofloxacin is an antibiotic, it destroys bacteria and by controlling infection (if present) it reduces the body temperature as well. Be assured that this drug is not an antipyretic drug (a drug which action is to lower temperature not the cause of fever). I think you should not worry too much about this drug. Levofloxacin can cause muscle weakness and tendon problems, especially in the older people. That is true. Consider that your mother suffered from cancer; the surgery itself and especially the anesthesia drugs may raise the body temperature the first days after surgery.
