Is L-5 S-1 Fusion Surgery A Safe Procedure?

Hi I am researching the L-5 S-1 Fusion surgery. I have just received this news that this would be my next step and frankly it scares the sh.t out of me. I have had this pain for 15 years from old car accident (long and gone now).
and I am trying to seek intelligent research from doctors or universities on the subject to help with my decision.I am hoping maybe you can point me to a good source I am in PA

L5s1 fusion is safe and effective surgery. In this disc is removed and bone grafting done. As complication can occur with every surgery this is also not without any complication. My suggestion to you is do not do too much research as more information,more confusion. Just have faith in doctor and go ahead with surgery.
