Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
hi your brother had injury (L)Knee due to fall from bike more than a year ago and has now swelled again. MRI shows ACL tear and you have been advised ACL reconstruction surgery.
Ant Cruciate ligament is a major stabilizer of knee joint and any rupture will cause instability in the knee joint with repeated swelling. In my opinion ACL Reconstruction should be done as early as possible. there is virtually no major side effect and these points about the problems / side effects can be discussed with your surgeon before operation.
