Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If you have a history of alcohol intake and you are also having abdominal discomfort then you should not take Ibuprofen without prior consent with your Physician. As the long-term history of alcohol intake can affect your liver. Ibuprofen intake can cause damage to the liver in case if it is already diseased due to alcohol.

So my suggestion is to once consult your Physician and get an abdominal ultrasound done and if needed liver enzymes can be checked.

If all goes fine and you are not taking any alcohol then you can take Ibuprofen as per prescribed doses.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
