Is IV Infusion Of Zometa Advisable For A Person With Osteoporosis?

A recent bone density test showed signs of osteoporosis, according to my Medical Oncologist. Because I have recently begun taking the anti-cancer hormone Arimidex, she wants to talk to me about an IV infusion of zometer (spelling?). I was looking for more information on that drug.

Hi,

Zometa is bisphosphonates which prevent osteoporosis and used to treat:
1. hypercalcaemia in malignancy.
2. osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

Zometa ready-to-use solution may be administered directly to the patient without further preparation. For single use only.

It may have many side-effects like hypotension, constipation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, hypokalemia, hypophosphatemia, hypocalcemia, skeletal pain, insomnia, anxiety and confusion etc.

So please consult your treating doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
