IUI can be tried if natural methods fail after trying seriously to get pregnant for six months. It is a single sitting outpatient procedure, done on the day of ovulation with a concentrated sample. Ovulation inducing medications may be used prior to this and hence, multiple pregnancy is a possibility. There is also a slight chance of infection.
